Belgium defeated Romania 2-0 in a Group E match at Euro 2024. The match was played at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, and Youri Tielemans scored for the Belgians in the 2nd minute. Kevin De Bruyne then scored in the 80th minute.

The match started in a whirlwind fashion and the Belgians took the lead in the 2nd minute of the match. Romelu Lukaku found Youri Tielemans with a great pass, who shot from the edge of the penalty area and managed to surprise Florin Niță, scoring for 1-0.

The Romanians, however, were ready with their immediate response. Just two minutes later, the Romanians created a dangerous situation. Marius Marin crossed into the Belgian penalty area, where Radu Dragusin rose high and headed the ball, but Koen Casteels made a brilliant intervention and saved the ball for a corner.

However, this turned out to be the last dangerous situation for our northern neighbors in the first half.

In the 13th minute, Belgium had an incredible chance, but failed to double the score. Jeremy Doku crossed into the Romanian penalty area, where Romelu Lukaku shot, but the ball was blocked and a corner was awarded.

The Belgians continued to put pressure on their opponents. In the 18th minute, Kevin De Bruyne found Dodi Lukebakio, who did not hesitate to take a shot at goal, but Florin Niță intervened perfectly and dived to save the ball for a corner.

In the 30th minute, Jeremy Doku broke into the penalty area, managed to get free of two players and took a very dangerous shot, but Florin Niță intervened again and saved the ball for a corner.

The second half started well for Romania. Just seconds after the start of the half, Denis Man took an accurate shot, but straight into Casteels’ hands.

In the 48th minute, Valentin Mihaila entered the penalty area and shot, but high over the bar.

In the 52nd minute, just outside the penalty area, Kevin De Bruyne took a technical shot, but the ball went past the left post of Niță and out for an out.

Just 3 minutes later, the Belgians had another chance. Lukaku passed to De Bruyne, who did not hesitate to take a shot from the edge of the penalty area, but Niță dived and saved.

In the 64th minute, a goal was disallowed for Lukaku. This was the third goal for Romelu Lukaku that has been disallowed at the tournament. De Bruyne played a great pass behind the Romanian defense for Lukaku. He advanced and shot into the bottom right corner of Niță. However, the goal was disallowed for offside.

Just 2 minutes later, Lukaku made a serious miss. The striker received the ball in the penalty area and shot, but Florin Niță managed to save.

In the 68th minute, the Romanians made a serious miss. Denis Man advanced into the penalty area and found himself alone against Casteels. Man shot with his right foot, but Casteels came out excellently and blocked him, thus preventing a certain goal.

Kevin De Bruyne scored Belgium’s second goal in the 80th minute. Koen Casteels kicked the ball from his own penalty area, bypassing all the players. A mistake in the Romanian defense allowed the ball to reach Kevin De Bruyne, who was alone against Florin Niță and could not miss.

The Romanians could have reduced the deficit in the 85th minute. Wout Faes was outplayed by Denis Alibek, who took the ball from him and took a shot, but Casteels saved.

Lukaku could have decided everything in the 89th minute, but Niță saved again.

Interestingly, with their victory, Belgium made it so that all four teams in Group E have the same number of points – three each.
