Croatia and Albania played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in Group B of UEFA EURO 2024. Kazim Laci opened the scoring for Albania in the 11th minute, before Andrej Kramaric equalized for Croatia in the 74th minute. An own goal from Klaus Gjelushaj put Croatia ahead just two minutes later, but Gjelushaj redeemed himself with a late equalizer in the fifth minute of added time.
First Half
Albania took the lead in the 11th minute when Kazim Laci headed home a cross from Yaser Asani.
Croatia had a chance to equalize in the 26th minute, but Bruno Petkovic’s header went over the bar.
Albania had another chance to score in the 29th minute, but Elseyid Hysaj’s powerful shot flew over the bar.
Croatia had a scare in the 31st minute when a mistake from Luka Modric allowed Albania to break through, but Kristijan Asllani’s shot was saved by Dominik Livakovic.
Marcelo Brozovic had a shot on target for Croatia in the 38th minute, but it was comfortably saved by Thomas Strakosha.
Second Half
Rey Manaj had a header saved by Livakovic in the 46th minute.
Croatia had their first serious attempt on goal in the 50th minute when Lukas Susic’s shot was saved by Strakosha.
Bruno Petkovic headed wide from a corner in the 58th minute.
Mario Pasalic headed wide from a cross in the 69th minute.
Croatia Equalize and Take the Lead
Croatia finally equalized in the 74th minute when Andrej Kramaric fired past Strakosha’s legs.
Croatia took the lead in the 76th minute when Ante Budimir’s shot was blocked, but the ball ricocheted off Klaus Gjelushaj into the net.
Albania Equalize in Late Drama
Luka Modric had a powerful shot from outside the box go close in the 88th minute.
Gjelushaj redeemed himself for his own goal in the 98th minute when he scored the equalizer from close range.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
