One of the main favorites of Euro 2024 – France only managed a draw in their third match of Group “D” of the Old Continent’s championship. The “Roosters” finished 1:1 against the team of Poland, which had already lost its chances to continue, and remained in second place in this group, after Austria, which won 3:2 against the Netherlands in the other match played at the same time.

Both goals at the stadium in Dortmund were scored from penalties. First, in the 56th minute, Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring, and in the 77th minute, the big figure in the Polish team, Robert Lewandowski, was also accurate from the white spot and fixed the final score. Initially, the Polish striker’s shot was saved by Mike Maignan, but the French goalkeeper was with both feet in front of the goal line at the time of the shot.

The first more interesting moment in the match was in the sixth minute. Piotr Zielinski shot from a distance, but Mike Maignan saved with ease. In the 11th minute, Ousmane Dembele entered the penalty area and sent a sharp pass, but Lukasz Skorupski saved Theo Hernandez’s shot with his foot.

In the 19th minute, N’Golo Kante ran a long way and passed to the right to Ousmane Dembele, but he was stopped by Skorupski.

In the 34th minute, Zielinski crossed from the left into the penalty area, but Lewandowski headed the ball wide of the goal.

Four minutes later, a shot by Tchouameni from the edge of the penalty area after a ricochet went wide of the goal. After the subsequent corner, William Saliba shot over the crossbar.

In the 49th minute, Mbappe shot inches past Skorupski’s goal.

In the 55th minute, France was awarded a penalty after Jakub Kiwior fouled Ousmane Dembele. Kylian Mbappe stepped up to the ball and left no chance for Skorupski to save.

Ousmane Dembele rushed into an attack down the flank in the 64th minute, entered the penalty area and tried to find Mbappe, but his cross was too strong.

A quarter of an hour before the end of the match, Mbappe went one-on-one with the Polish goalkeeper, but he saved the ball. Before this attack by France, there was a situation in France’s penalty area and after a VAR review the referee awarded a penalty to Poland for Upamecano’s foul on Swiderski. Robert Lewandowski took the penalty, but he shot weakly and Maignan saved his shot. However, his shot was reviewed because Maignan had left the goal line with both feet before Lewandowski’s shot. The Barca striker stepped up to the ball again and this time sent the ball into the net.

The last dangerous moment in front of one of the two goals was in the 85th minute, when Bednarek blocked a shot by Olivier Giroud.
