Portugal secured their second consecutive victory in Group F of Euro 2024. After a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Czech Republic in their first match, the “Sailors” won much more easily today against Turkey and won 3-0.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 21st minute, seven minutes later Samet Aydin scored an own goal, and Bruno Fernandes made it 3-0 in the 56th minute.
The match started well for Vincenzo Montella’s players, with the first serious chance coming in front of Diogo Costa’s goal. In the 7th minute, Kerem Akturglu made a serious miss.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for the “Sailors” in the 21st minute after a good attack from the left. In the end, the Manchester City player was left alone in the penalty area and managed to get to the ball, then sent it into the net of Altay Bayındır.
Seven minutes later, Portugal’s lead was extended to 2-0 after a comical own goal by the Turks. Samet Aydin passed the ball back to Altay Bayındır, but the two did not understand each other and the ball went into Turkey’s goal.
At the end of the first half, the match became a bit tense, with referee Felix Zwayer giving four yellow cards in the last five minutes and a total of five in the entire first half.
The pace dropped in the second half, and the “Sailors” came out of nowhere to score a third goal, which put an end to the intrigue. In the 65th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo was put through against Altay Bayındır. However, the Portuguese star decided not to finish himself, but passed to Bruno Fernandes, who scored into an empty net.
In the last minutes of the match, the Portuguese slowed down the pace, allowing the Turkish national team to keep more possession of the ball. However, the “Sailors” organized some dangerous counterattacks, which, however, they failed to finish with another goal. For their part, Turkey never reached anything more interesting in front of Costa’s goal and so the match ended with a score of 3-0.
