Switzerland won the second match of this year’s European Championship! The “Crusaders” defeated Hungary 3-1 in a Group A first-round match played in Cologne. The first goal for the Swiss team came from Ludogorets striker Kwado Duah, who scored in the 14th minute. Michael Aebischer made it 2-0 at the very end of the first half. Barnabas Varga managed to score for the Hungarians in the 66th minute, but Breel Embolo scored again for the Swiss in added time to make it 3-1.

In the 14th minute of the match, Kwado Duah scored the first goal for Switzerland. The Ludogorets player was perfectly set up by Michel Aebischer. Duah shot low and the ball went into the net of Peter Gulacsi, opening the scoring. The goal had to be checked for offside, but there was none.

In the 20th minute, Switzerland almost doubled their lead, but no goal was scored. Ruben Vargas was set up and was left alone against the Hungarian goalkeeper Gulacsi, but failed to score.

In the 40th minute, the Hungarians managed to break through and Dominik Szoboszlai crossed to Willi Orban, who shot at goal, but too weakly and Yann Sommer had no problem saving.

At the very end of the first half, Aebischer scored the second goal for the “Crusaders”. Remo Freuler found Michel Aebischer, who shot with his right foot from the edge of the penalty area. His shot was aimed at the bottom left corner of Gulacsi’s goal, who had no chance of saving.

The second half started better again for the Swiss. In the 54th minute, Ruben Vargas received the ball in the penalty area, controlled it and shot, but Peter Gulacsi caught it and did not allow a third goal in his net.

As the half progressed, however, the Hungarians raised their level and created chances, and a little later they even scored.

In the 64th minute, the “Magyars” missed an excellent opportunity. Ronald Sallai crossed brilliantly into the penalty area right onto the head of Barnabas Varga, who delivered a dangerous shot that went inches past Yann Sommer’s goal.

Two minutes after the “Magyars” missed, however, Barnabas Varga made amends for his team. Dominik Szoboszlai found Varga superbly, who outpaced a Swiss defender and again headed towards goal, this time the ball went into the back of the net, reducing Hungary’s deficit.

At the end of the match, the Swiss came close to scoring a third goal and their efforts were rewarded in added time. Breel Embolo made the final score 3-1 and thus Switzerland took three points from today’s match.
